Ruth Semmes 
Ruth was born about 1708 in Charles County, Maryland. Ruth's father was Marmaduke Semmes and her mother was Elizabeth Clarkson. Her paternal grandparents were Marmaduke Semmes and Fortune Watson; her maternal grandparents were William Clarkson and Ruth Rozer. She had a brother and two sisters, named Francis, Eleanor and Elizabeth. She was the oldest of the four children.-
