Elizabeth was born in 1840 in Of, Hawkins, Tennessee.  Elizabeth's father was James Roark and her mother was Elizabeth. She had four brothers and a sister, named William, Joseph Rogers, Robert, John and Ann.  She was the oldest of the six children.
