Henry was born in 1785 in Shenandoah County, Virginia. Henry's father was Jacob Rinker and his mother was Mary Keller. His paternal grandparents were Jacob Rinker and Catherine; his maternal grandparents were George Keller and Barbara Anna Hottel. He had four brothers and three sisters, named George, Absalom, Ephraim, Jacob, Catherine, Barbara and Elizabeth.-
