Mary was born on March 10th, 1775 in Fincastle, Botecourt, Virginia. Mary's father was William Poage and her mother was Ann Kennedy. Her paternal grandparents were William Poage and Elizabeth Preston; her maternal grandfather was John Kennedy. She was an only child.
