Joseph was born about 1790 in Of, Hawkins, Tennessee. Joseph's father was Enoch Morrisett and his mother was Mary Ford. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Morrisett and Abriah Roberts. He had three brothers and a sister, named James, Samuel, Alexander and Nancy. He was the oldest of the five children. He died in 1812 in , Hawkins, Tennessee.-
