George was born on April 8th, 1761 in Marlborough Twp., Chester, Pennsylvania.  George's father was Robert McMinn and his mother was Sarah Harlan. He had four brothers and five sisters, named John, Joseph, Robert, John, Elizabeth, Martha, Margaret, Mary and Sarah.  He was the fifth youngest of the ten children.
