Geneva was born in 1858 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. Geneva's father was William McBride and her mother was Louisa Cocheran. Her maternal grandparents were John Cocheran and Sarah Or Sally. She had four brothers and a sister, named John, James C., C., Leroy and Sarah Elizabeth. She was the youngest of the six children.-
