Her paternal grandparents were James Jones and Sarah Schooler; her maternal grandparents were Josiah Ashurst and Rebecca Kennedy. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Josiah Ashurst, John I., Thomas D., Rebecca Kennedy and Sarah D.. She was the youngest of the six children.-
