Virginia was born about 1728 in , , Of N. C.. Virginia's father was Thomas Haynes and her mother was Elizabeth Martha Jones. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Haynes and Mrs. Clark; her maternal grandparents were Herbert Jones and Martha. She had seven brothers and three sisters, named Herbert, Anthony, Thomas III, Richard, Andrew, Draughton, William, Elizabeth, Martha and Mary. She was the second youngest of the eleven children.-
