Mary Ann was born on March 17th, 1815 in Sullivan County, Tennessee. Mary Ann's father was John Simon Harr and her mother was Lydia Hicks. Her paternal grandparents were John Harr and Susannah Snapp. She had three brothers and two sisters, named John William, Elkanah, Adam Leonadas, Elizabeth Ann and Lydia. She was the oldest of the six children.-
