Frances Ann's father was Charles Nodan George and her mother was Celia Smith. Her paternal grandparents were James Jordan George and Elizabeth Pemberton; her maternal grandparents were Jacob Smith and Nancy Dugger. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Washington, Lafayette, Jefferson, Elizabeth, Louisa, Mary and Matilda Bell.-
