Jacob was born in 1823 in Sullivan County, Tennessee.  Jacob's father was Jacob Geisler and his mother was Susan Schultz.  His paternal grandparents were John Adam Geisler and Anna Kuny. He had a brother named Henry.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died at the age of 77 in 1900.
