Gomez Paez's father was Pelayo Gutierrez De Silva and his mother was Sancha Anez De Montor. His paternal grandparents were Gutierre Pelayez De Silva and Maria Perez De Ambia; his maternal grandfather was Juan Ramirez De Montor. He was an only child. He died in 1170.
