Rebecca's father was Moses Henry Cross and her mother was Caroline Wainscot. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Jones Cross and Martha Wright. She had a brother named Gilbert. She had three half-brothers and three half-sisters, named James Edgar, John, William, Mary, Martha and Sarah Ellen.-
