Cox 
Cox was born in 1917 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. Cox's father was Andrew Jackson Cox and his mother was Lydia Virginia Winegar. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Cox and Susannah Carr. He had a brother and four sisters, named Richard Fred, Effie Cordelia, Myrtle Ethel, Mary Delphia and Bertha Lucinda. He was the youngest of the six children. He died in 1917 in , Hawkins, Tennessee.
