Philip's father was Joshua Claud and his mother was Charlotte Turner. His maternal grandfather was John Turner. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Joshua, William, Elizabeth, Lydia, Mary and Phoebe. He died in 1773 in Southampton Co., VA.
