John Snooks was born on October 16th, 1852 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. John Snooks' father was Allen D. Christian and his mother was Sarah Jane Skelton. His paternal grandparents were John Christian and Nancy Skelton; his maternal grandparents were James Skelton and Anna Curry. He had two brothers and two sisters, named James, Lewis, Louisiana and Nancy. He was the oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 78 on October 17th, 1930 in , Hawkins, Tennessee.-
