Mattie E. Childress 
Mattie E. was born in March 1887 in Sullivan County, Tennessee. Mattie E.'s father was John Wesley Childress and her mother was Nancy Ellen Shipley. Her paternal grandparents were William Burton Childress and Elizabeth Dickson; her maternal grandparents were William H. Shipley and Mary Jane Moody. She had a brother and four sisters, named James Paul, Ida Sarah Edna, Cordie, Maudie and Bertha Vinette. She was the oldest of the six children. She died at the age of 101 on November 16th, 1988.-
