David was born in 1782 in Of, Hawkins, Tennessee.  David's father was Mark Chambers and his mother was Elizabeth Criner.  His maternal grandfather was James Criner. He had a brother named Daniel.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died at the age of 78 in 1860.
