John Exum Boddie 
John Exum was born on February 20th, 1798 in Of North Carolin, A. John Exum's father was Bennett Boddie and his mother was Sarah Smith. His maternal grandparents were Benjamin Smith and Tabitha Exum. He had three brothers and a sister, named Nathan Van, Bennett, George and Chloe Crudup. He was the third oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 43 in 1841 in Marango County, Alabama.-
