Catharine's father was Jacob Blessing and her mother was Elizabeth Ritschart. Her maternal grandparents were Christian Ritschart and Magdalena Wolf. She had six brothers and four sisters, named Jacob, Lewis, John, Abraham, Christian, Henry, Elizabeth, Barbara, Magdalena and Christina.-
