Claude Eldridge was born on August 17th, 1896 in , Sullivan, Tennessee. Claude Eldridge's father was Eldridge Otto Akard and his mother was Susan A. Knight. His maternal grandparents were Ephraim Goldsmith Knight and Mary Jane Norman. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Joseph William, Frank G. W., Mary Catherine, Minnie and Sarah M.. He was the youngest of the six children. He died at the age of 72 on August 22nd, 1968 in , , New Mexico.-
