  Valentine Mayo's earliest known record dates back to May 7, 1686, when he was witness to a will in Middlesex County, Virginia. Valentine Mayo was imported by Arthur Spicer, Essex County, VA in 1693. The records of
  Christ Church, Middlesex Co., VA, show both James Mayo, father of
  Valentine, and Edmund Mickleborough, father of Anne, who married
  Valentine in 1710. Valentine was killed in 1716, by Indians, according
  to one source. The Inventory of Estate sale indicated that Valentine was a tailor and/or sailmaker.

  On 7 May 1686 Valentine was a witness to the will of Jonathan Brooks and it is likely that Sarah, wife of Jonathan was Valentine's sister. Also on 5 June 1711 Valentine and Ann made a deed to "our beloved couzon" Jonathan Brooks (born 4 Dec. 1684, son of Jonathan and Sarah) for 39 acres of land patented by Valentine Mayo in 1702.
  
  On 25 April 1702, Valentine acquired 39 acres of land in Middlesex County adjacent to land of Thomas Obrisell, dec'd; John Stamper, dec'd; and Henry Tugwell; by Mickleburrough's SW, just above the horse bridge; on land of John Bourck dec'd. Trans of Wm. Watts.
