Perry was born in 1800 in Spartanburg Co., SC . Perry 's father was James LOFTIS and his mother was Catherine (Katsey) MORRIS. His paternal grandparents were Job LOFTIS and Elvira GOODLETT. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Morris , John , James Powell , Tolson, Candace , Anna and Jinsey . He was the oldest of the eight children.-
