Reuben M.  was born in 1837 in TN.  Reuben M. 's father was Andrew HAMBY and his mother was Almira PROFFITT.  His paternal grandparents were Ruben  HAMBY and Mahala MITCHELL . He had five brothers and two sisters, named Thomas Franklin, William A. , Julius A. , Albert Newton, James K. Polk , Sarah Elizabeth and Amanda Mahala.  He was the second oldest of the eight children.
