Edwin was born in 1861 in VA . Edwin 's father was Hiram W. DAWSON and his mother was Frances A. "Fannie" McCAUL . His paternal grandparents were Henry DAWSON and Frances "Fanny" A. WOODSON ; his maternal grandparents were Royal McCALL and Mildred "Milly" MOORE. He had four brothers and three sisters, named McHenry , William Nowlin "Willie" , Walter R , Eugene C, Ann , Laura and Frances H. "Fannie". He was the third youngest of the eight children.-
