  David is 1st found in a tithe list in 1772 as being age 16-21. That would make his birth date between 1751-1756. As his parents married in 1752 and his brother William was born 1753, this narrows David's birth date down to 1754-1756, the same range as for his brother Daniel.
  
  The 1786 state census shows 1 male 21-60, 2 males less than 21 or over 60 and 4 females. The total of 2 sons and 3 daughters would seem to indicate that he married at least 10 years before this date. Various court records from this period give his wife's name as Elizabeth.
  
  I cannot find any record of him in the 1790 census. In the 1800 census he is listed with 3 males under 10, one male 10-15, 1 male 16-25 and one male 26-44, 1 female under 10, 2 females 10-15, one female 16-25 and one female over 45. The fact that he was no older than 44 combined with the 1772 tithe list age range would make his birth year 1756. His wife was probably just slightly older. They now have a total of 5 sons and 5 daughters and it is unlikely due to her age, that they will have any more.
  
  In the 1810 census there are 2 males under ten, 2 males 18-35 and 1 male over 45. There are also one female 10-15, one female 16-25 and 2 females over 45. I think it highly probable that this represents a married son, his wife (and their 2 young sons) living with them. This would mean that there is only one unmarried son and one unmarried daughter who belong to David and Elizabeth still at home. We know from other records that both his son Joseph and his daughter Ellender got married in 1813. Since sons David Jr and William already have their own households in this census, that means that we are missing the name of this married son in the household. Could this be the Jacob Chandler who married Ruth Prim on 16 Oct 1806 in Stokes Co? The number of children is correct for a marriage at about that date.
  
  In 1810 he is the only son of William Chandler (1729-1795) still living in Stokes or Surry Co, NC. He does not appear in the record after this date. His children stay in the area until 1822 when 3 of them,  Joseph Chandler and Ellender Rarden, (converted, becoming Quakers) moved with a group of families to a Quaker settlement in Friendswood, Hendricks Co., Indiana.
  
  (David Jr settled in Washington Co., TN. I have no information on WIlliam or the other 2 sons.)
  
  In summary: David was born 1756, married about 1776 and does not appear in the records after 1810. (Custom was back then, after 50 years old you could be excused from paying taxes and I have not been able to locate 1820 Census for Surry.) He may have had as many as 5 sons and 5 daughters.
  One sons and one daughter are known to have moved to Indiana with their families in 1822. David Jr. Moved to Washington CO., TN
  
  In 2005, Vera Chandler Black, a well documented descendant of David had her brother's y DNA tested and the results placed them firmly in the group that is now believed to be descended from John Chander of Jamestown-1610. Those DYS#s were: 15-23-14-10-15-16-11-13-11-13-12-31.
