  Jensen from a book titled, "A Vision of Unity: The Bland Family in
  England and America 1555-1900. By Charles L. Bland.
  
  His will was made 21 December 1786 and was proved 27 march 1787. He lived to be abt. 53-the book said his birthdate was written in "old style" meaning it was probably not written on the Julian calendar. In 1764 he was on the tax rolls and was a recipient of 40 acres with his brother Edward who deeded the land to him "for love and affection." In 1775 Robert sued a man named McCollister in Fairfax Co., VA. In 1775, Robert bought from Robert Johnson a tract of 85 acres in Loudon Co., VA that had formerly belonged to his father and was adjacent to some 538 acres then in Robert's possesion. From this latter deed, it appears that Robert's brother Edward had already gone to S.C. (sec- How do they figure that?). Then in 1778, Robert sold the 538 acres that his father had purchased from John Diskin in 1741 and moved away to S.C. with his wife and their first 8 children. They went to the area near the Saluda River. He also joined the Revolutionary forces as a Private, records located. Family tradition has it that he and his son were captured by the Tories. John was killed at a place called Cloud Creek by one Cunningham, on 17 Nov. 1781. Robert himself was badly treated by the Tories, was concerned for his familys' safety and moved them away from the 96th District temporarily. From his service during the Revolution, Robert received a bounty land grant of 300 acres on 4 Oct 1784. He died early in life in 1787 in Edgefield Co., S.C.
