Her paternal grandparents were James (Sr) (Capt) BLAND and Jane JOHNSON; her maternal grandparents were Benjamin BLAND and Ruth BLACKFORD. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Francis Asbury, Benjamin , William V., James C. , Thomas J. , John O. , Elizabeth J. and Marion E. . She was the oldest of the nine children.-
