  There was an early settler of Rhode Island by the name of Bailey who
  had by his wife Grace Bailey several children who emigrated to the Quaker settlements of Nansemond County, VA and Perquimans County, NC.
  
  1. Mary Bailey of Rhode Island married John Stepney on North
  Carolina.
  
  2. Abigail Bailey of Rhode Island
  
  Abigail Bailie on February 14, 1668, married William Charles in
  Rhode Island, Mr. Jeffrey, Magistrate, officiating (NC Hist. and Gen. Reg, III, 2, p. 199).
  
  William Charles died on August6, 1677 (idem, III, 3, p. 365),
  Abigail Charles married John  Leary (idem, II, 2, p. 199).
  
  1. William Charles Jr. was born on November 26, 1668 (idem, III, 2,
  p. 206). He married Elizabeth and their son James Charles was born October 1, 1685 (idem, III, 2, p. 212).
  
  2. Jane Charles was born on January 20, 1670, and died on July 12,
  1688 (idem, III, 3, p. 363).
  
  3. Elizabeth Charles was born on January 8, 1672 married Samuel Nicholson, 15 Dec 1688  Quarterly Meeting Perquiman Co., NC (idem).
  
  4. Samuel Charles was born on March 22, 1674 (idem).
  
  5. Isaac Charles was born March 12, 1676 (idem).
