  H.H. ALLEN dies in home of daughter
  HENRY H. ALLEN, 80 retired farmer, died at 3:25 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the home of his daughter MRS. HENRY HAMELL, 711 West Franklin Street, with whom he had made his home the last year. His health had been poorly for several months and he had been bedfast since September, following a stroke of paralysis. MR. ALLEN was born in OHIO, May 3, 1858. When a boy he came with his parents to Illinois. He was united in marriage many years ago to MISS LOUISA SHAVER (spelling not correct). They engaged in farming, residing for a number of years southwest of the city. Twenty years ago (circa 1914) they retired and moved to Nokomis where Mr. ALLEN was resided until a year ago. His wife (LOUISA) died about 18 years ago. Five children were also deceased. Surviving are his daughter MRS HENRY HAMELL, and two sons, WILLIAM ALLEN and LOUIS ALLEN both of this city (Taylorville, Illinois). He also leaves 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Church, Rev. R. E. Henry pastor of the Christian Church, officiating. Burial was made in the Center Grove Cemetery southwest of Taylorville. Chestnut and Pearson, funeral directors were in charge. The pall bearers were DARRELL HAMEL, GEORGE ALLEN, CHARLES ALLEN, CLARENCE ALLEN, WILBUR ALLEN, LESTER ALLEN. the flower bearers were: FLORENCE PARRILL, RUTH GILLILAND, MRS. B.M. CHAMBERS and CLARA COLLINS.

  This indenture witnesseth that the grantor JACOB SHAFER and CATHERINE SHAFER his wife of the Town of Greenwood in the County of Christian and State of Illinois for and in consideration of the sum of thirty one hundred and fifty dollars ($3,150.00) in hand paid, Convey and Warrant to HENRY H. ALLEN of the Town of Greenwood County of Christian and State of Illinois the following described Real Estate, to-wit: The Northwest quarter of the Northeast quarter of Section Thirty (30) and the Northeast quarter of the Northeast quarter of the Southwest quarter and the West half of the Northeast quarter of the Southwest quarter of Section Twenty One (21) all in Township Eleven (11) North to Range Two (2) West of the Third (3) Principle Meridian and containing Seventy (70) Acres more or less according to the U.S. Survey said lands. Situated in the Township of Greenwood, in the County of Christian, In the State of Illinois, hereby releasing and waiving all rights under and by virtue of the Homestead Exemption Laws of this state, Dated this sixth (6) day of April A.D. 1896 Signed, Sealed and Delivered in the Presence of Witness JAMES M.   H.H. Allen is listed as having two forty acre tracts one in section 30 and one in section 29 adjoining each other. H.H. Allen also has a 20 acre tract in section 21 next to a 10 acre tract owned by THO. HAMELL to the south and next to a 100 acre tract owned by CHARLES LUEDERS. Total land in H.H. ALLEN found this research is 100 acres in 3 separate tracts. J.J. ALLEN has two tracts found one in section 17 of 55 acres THOS. HAMELL has 60 acres north of this tract and J.J. Allen has a second tract in section 16 of 20 acres with MADISON BUSY owning 45 acres to the south and W.R. BEAMAN owning 104 acres to the north and west.
