Washington was born in 1820 in Belle Vernon, PA.  Washington's father was Nathaniel Everson and his mother was Elizabeth Nash.  His paternal grandfather was Richard Everson. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Richard, Elijah, John, Jackson, Lewis, Elizabeth, Polly, Louisa and Harriet.  He was the fourth youngest of the ten children.
