Johann Christian Duchman 
Johann Christian was born in 1719 in Guntershoffen Alsace France. Johann Christian 's father was Johan Adam Duchmann and his mother was Maria Magdalena Steiner. He had a brother named Hans Adam. He was the older of the two children. He died at the age of 83 in December 1802 in Allegany Co, VA.General Notes
Also listed as Johann Christman. Probably an immigrant from the Palatine or Wirtemberg areas of Germany via Alsace Loraine France. Listed as a passenger on the ship Dragon, out of Rotterdam, sailing to Playmouth with shipmaster Daniel Nicholas. Swore allegiance to Britain's Kinge George II at the Court House in Philadelphia on 10/17/1749. Alternate date of birth 1730 (re: John M Knisley) So far as known, everyone named Toothman in America decended from Johann Christian. Most WV Toothmans come from sons Diederich and Christian; most midwestern from son Michael and some from son Johannes. (re: Rick Toothman)
