Eleanor was born in 1054 in of Thouars, Deux-Sevres, France.1 Eleanor's father was Aimery IV Vct de Thouars and her mother was Aurengarde de Meuleon. Her paternal grandparents were Geoffroi II Vct de Thouars and Aenor (de Thouars). She had a sister named Ildegarde. She was the younger of the two children.
