Sir John was born in of Colne Engaine & Laxton, Northamptonshire.1 Sir John's father was Sir Veil II de Engaine and his mother was Rohese (de Enqaine). His paternal grandparents were Richard III de Enqaine and Sarah Lady Colne de Chesney. He was an only child. He died in 1297.1 General Notes
