Maud was born in of Clifford Castle, Herefordshire, England.1 Maud's father was Walter de Clifford III Baron Clifford and her mother was Marared Drwyndon of Wales verch Llywelyn Fawr. Her paternal grandparents were Walter de Clifford II Baron Clifford and Agnes Lady of Cavenby de Condet; her maternal grandparents were Llywelyn Fawr ap Iorwerth Prince of Wales and Tangwystl Goch of Rhos verch Llywarch. She was an only child. She died in December 1283. She was buried in 1271 in Her 2nd husband John forcibly abducted & raped her to gain her inheritance..1 1 General Notes
