John was born on August 25th, 1783.1   John's father was John Whitten and his mother was Phoebe Unknown. He had a brother and four sisters, named Lindsey, Frances "Fanny", Anna, Susannah and Sally.  He died at the age of 62 on December 28th, 1845 in , Panola Co., Mississippi.1
