  Lousia was the daughter of Daniel C. Pilcher and Lucinda Jane Demasters
  Pilcher.  Louisa's dad was in the Confederate army in Mo., he had been
  captured twice, and the second time he escaped he went and gathered up
  his wife, mother and children and loaded them all in a wagon and headed
  for Texas.  Someone was with them and the other man rode ahead during
  the day to check for danger, while the family hid out.  Then he would
  ride back during the night they would travel as far as he had gone in
  the day. It must have been a terrible trip, as at least two children
  died on the trip, these children were just buried along the road and
  their mother mourned the rest of her life, not being able to see where
  her children were buried.  The "Yankees" had taken everything they had
  and burned their barn so it's reasonable to think they may have starved
  before they could get away. They arrived in Texas with one remaining
  child, and the next three children were born in Texas. When the
  Pilcher's first came to Texas during the last days of the Civil war,
  there were still Indian raids in Montague County. Grandma (Winnie
  Pilcher Harvey) said her grandmother told her they would hide in the
  house and let the Indians have whatever they were after (usually
  chickens), as they were looking for food. The story is that the night
  Louisa's youngest brother Alexander was born, anouther baby boy was born
  to another woman in the community. Daniel paid the midwife for the
  delivery of the other woman's child, but never for Alexander.  As soon
  as this women was able to ride , they all disappeared from the community
  and never came back.  Lousia (Daniel's mother and Lucinda raised the
  four children by themselves.  Levicy was originally buried in a cemetery
  south of St.Jo called Antioch, the body of her, and her mother were
  later moved to the Mountain Park cemetery where her brother Richard is
  buried Sec. 5 #42  Her tombstone says wife of W.T. Martin "  Blessed are
  the pure in heart for they shall see God"
