Bluff St., a life insurance salesman here more than 30 years, occurred
Tuesday about 7 a.m. in a Paris hospital. He had been ill some time. The
fune ral, Wednesday at 4 p.m., will be held at Fry and Gibbs chapel, with
burial i n Evergreen Cemetery. Besides his wife, Mr. Nix leaves two
children, Alton Ni x, Alexandria, La., and Mrs. Leonard Higgins, Bonham;
two grandchildren, incl uding Richard Lee Nix, he and his mother, widow of
Porter Nix, living in the Lewis Nix home, and these sisters and brothers:
Mrs. J.F. Henry, Texarkana; M rs. Mandy Gann, Terrell; Mrs. Tom
McFatridge, Baytown,; Mrs. Ollie McCulley, Roxton; Mrs. J.F. Miller,
Sherman; Mrs. Lula Lashbrook, Santa Clara, Calif; M rs. Alva Reeves,
Mangum, Okla.; Walter Nix, Lubbock; Calvin Nix, Dallas; Geor ge Nix,
Tulsa, Okla., and Tom Nix, Midland. Born at Roxton, 23 Sep 1887, Lewi s
Nix was a son of the late J.C. and Miranda (Germany) Nix. He married Miss
Othella Jack there, 12 Sep 1909. He attended Roxton schools and later,
old P aris Commercial College. He was employed at Burton-Peel, Arthur
Caddel and Pe rkins Brothers dry goods stores here before becoming
representative for South western Life Insurance Company. A deacon in First
Baptist Church, he had been a Sunday school teacher there and president
of the adult training union. He also was a member of the Lions Club and
of the Life Underwriters Association. ' *On the same stone with Othella E.
