The third (1986) edition of the Royal Historical Societ y's Handbook of
British Chronology' says Olaf I was the son of Godred I (Crov en) who
ruled from 1079-95. Godred was perhaps the son of Harald the Black o f
Ysland and has been conjectured to be the grandson of Godred son of
Harol d who was probably the ruler of Man in 979.
