  Family legend has it that brothers Samuel, Rufus and James Perry, along
  with James' wife Susannah, left Tennessee in the early 18 50's to go to
  Arkansas.  Samuel and Rufus are listed in the 1860 Lawrence Cou nty, AR
  census and James Perry and Susannah are listed in the 1860 Randolph
  County, AR census.
  When Samuel left Tennessee, he left his pregnant wife, Bar bara. Barbara's
  family and the Tennessee Kincade's never knew what happened t o Samuel.
  Lawrence County marriage certificate lists Samuel, age 24, to Mary
  Maxwell, age 37.  The 1860 Lawrence County, AR census lists Samuel
  Kingcade (27), Jane Kingcade (39), Rufus Kingcade (22), Mary A. Kingcade
  (18), James R. (7), William G. (7), and Elizabeth J. (1). All were born
  in Tennessee exce pt Elizabeth who was born in Arkansas.
  On August 31, 1861 Samuel enlisted in t he Confederate Army.  He enlisted
  in Pocahontas, Arkansas.  He served in Comp any G, McCarver's 14th
  Arkansas Infantry.  He died on May 20, 1862.  Jim Kinc ade said that he is
  buried in Booneville, Prentiss County, MS, but burial rec ords have not
  been located on him.
  Powhattan County Library and Museum in La wrence County, Arkansas has
  loose probate records on Samuel.  Date of death i s not mentioned, but
  inventory was done on Samuel's estate on 14 Jan 1863.  P robate papers
  state:  Your Petitioner J. A. Casey (?) would respectfully repr esent unto
  your honors that James R. and William G. Maxwell and Elizabeth J. Kincaid
  are minors under the age of fourteen years, and heirs to the estate o f
  Samuel B. Kincaid, dec'd that the father and mother of said minors are
  bo th dead, that said Samuel B. Kingcade died leaving property amounting
  in valu e to about one hundred dollars....and would therefore ask that you
  appoint Be rry Street guardian of said minors. Dated 13 Apr 1863.
  Samuel is listed in thi s census as follows:  Saml B. Kingcade, 27,
  $100/$75, TN; Jane Kingcade, 39, F, TN; Rufus KIngcade, 22, TN; Mary A.
  Kingcade, 18, TN; James R. Kingcade, 7 , TN; William G., 7, TN (these two
  are twins); and Elizabeth, 1, AR.  It appe ars that the census takers got
  this family and the family next door mixed up while writing.  Samuel is
  listed as the last name in the Lowry household and Rody J. Loury, age 5,
  is listed as the first name in the next household.
