Crockett Carter Fox 
Crockett Carter was born on June 2nd, 1866 in Parrotsville, Cocke, Tennessee.1 Crockett Carter's father was Lorenzo D(avid) Fox and his mother was Nancy Smith. He had three brothers and five sisters, named John L., Lorenzo David, George, Elizabeth, Sarah, Margaret, Lydia and Mary D. He died at the age of 79 on March 14th, 1946 in Crowell, Foard, Texas. Crockett Carter Fox was born June 2, 1866 at Parriotville, Tennessee. His father was a civil war veteran and after his death, his mother, three sisters and two brothers moved to Leander, Texas in Williamson County when Crockett was 16 years old (about 1882). He married Miss Addie Evelyn Radar in 1888 at Georgetown, Texas, and moved to a farm near Taylor, Texas. They lived there until 1902 when they moved to Okmulgee, Indian Territory. At this time, he had a five year lease, and hoped to buy the land, but the government would not sell. In 1907, he came to Foard County and bought land near Foard City from Tom Bell. The very last of that year, he moved his family, their household belongings and livestock to Quanah by Immigrant Car. On January 1, 1908, they came from Quanah by covered wagon and moved to the R.B. edwards place one mile northeast of Crowell. The crop for their first year promised to be a good one, but was hailed out. The hail was very large-roofs destroyed and many animals were killed. The hail came on Friday and the following Sunday, it was gathered to make ice cream. In the summer of 1909, he was dressed to go to I.O.O.F. when he dropped his glasses in a cistern while drawing water. His daughter, Addie Bell, thought that she could get them for him since she could see them floating on the top of the water, but before she had time to recover the glasses, the line broke. Mr. Fox was so frightened that he tore the top off the cistern and went down the same line; he landed on a bucket and by tip-toe, he was able to keep his head out of the water. Addie Bell was on his shoulders. tola ran to Alford Johnsons, the nearest neighbors. she was so frightened she could not tell him what had happened, but news traveled fast and soon enough men were there to rescue them. In 1916, they moved to their farm, two miles east of Foard city, now owned by Jack Welch. this was their home until Mr. fox retired in 1934 and moved to Crowell. In 1938, Mr. and Mrs. Fox observed their 50th wedding anniversary at the Premier Hotel, owned and operated by his daughter. Most all the children and grandchildren were present for the event. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Fox were eleven children, Lottie Mae Johnson, deceased in 1942, Ethel Dickerson, Roy M. Fox, Addie Bell Carpenter, deceased in 1944, baby boy, died in infancy, Mabel Daniel, Bertha Burdine, Tola Thomson, Grace Honeycutt, Loys Thomson and Crockett C. Jr. Mr. Fox died March 14, 1946; Mrs. Fox, January 14, 1956.
