Herbert II was born before 1145.1 Herbert II's father was Herbert FitzHerbert and his mother was Sybilla Corbet. His paternal grandparents were Herbert the Chamberlain of Winchester and Emma de Blois; his maternal grandfather was Sir Robert Corbet. He had a half-brother named Rainald de Dunstanville.
