Leofric III was born in Mercia, England.1 Leofric III's father was Leofwine Earl of Mercia and his mother was Alwara of Mercia. His paternal grandparents were Edulph of Wessex and AElfwyn Lady of Mercia; his maternal grandfather was Athelstan Mannesson. He was an only child.
