Polly Ann's father was Alvin Burkett and her mother was Elizabeth Phillips. Her paternal grandparents were David M Burkett and Mary Ann McAdoo. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Chester Freeman, Vinnie, Ezzie and Sarah.
