John Buchanan 
John was born in April 1778 in Washington, Virginia.1 John's father was Moses Buchanan and his mother was Elizabeth Harper. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Buchanan and Martha McNutt. He had six brothers named Andrew, Moses, William, David, Robert and Samuel. He died at the age of 77 on January 21st, 1856 in Lincoln County, Tennessee.1 General Notes

John Buchanan was born in Washington coun ty Virginiaand moved to Davidson
county Tennessee in 1797. He settled on
Cum berland River seven miles above Nashville. In 1807, he moved to
Lincoln count y Tennessee three miles north of
Fayetteville.
