B. Frank Burt, No. 1318 in Va Cousins, son of Elizabeth Goode Burt, No.
557, was a soldier in the army of the Republic of Texas. He was a trooper
in Dr. Jack Shackelford's famous company of "Red Rovers," and was in the
command of Colonel J.W. Fannin, who, after a hard-fought battle,
surrendered to the Mexican forces under Gen. Urrea on the Goleta
(Coleto), in March, 1836, and were afterwards shot at Goliad, in
violation of the terms of surrender, March 27, 1836, - 385 officers and
