According to his daughter, Elsie Carolyn (Robertson) Vinson, he died
while milking a cow. He was suppose to have dinner with Mrs Maude Mills
and when he didn't show up, Mrs Mills called a neighbor who found Carlton
dead in the barn. Cause of death - myocarditis. Informant - Mrs Ruby
Mezick, half-sister.
I, Carlton E Robertson, give to my son J Edward Robertson and my daughter
E Carolyn Robertson jointly in trust all my property of every
description, both real estate and personal property. The said property
to be equally divided between each and every one of my legal children or
issues to share and share alike. And lastly, I do hereby appoint my son
J Edward Robertson and my daughter E Carolyn Robertson without bond to be
sole exs. Signed 14 May 1943. Witness: Max P Hughes and Myra W
Underhill. "And that the date of death of Carlton E Robertson was Monday
16 Apr 1945 at his residence Quantico Rd at 9 AM."
Since Max P Hughes and Myra W Underhill (V V Hughes' secretary) signed as
witnesses, it is possible that Carlton took his will into V V Hughes &
Sons office to be witnessed. Also at the time of his death, E Carolyn
(Robertson) Vinson sworn an oath that the exact location of J Edward
Robertson was unknown, and that he was "somewhere in the South Pacific,
serving in the Navy."
