Narrative

Deputy at the General Court from Watertown (1636 - 1637). Settled at
Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts in 1646. Was at one time an
Indian teacher, and became the Governor of Martha's Vineyard, which post
he held from 1647 to 1681. Likely came over in 1632 on the ship "Lyon's
Whelp" and was the servant of Thomas Craddock.
