Had an appointment to West Point when he couldn't resist the temptation
to go on a world cruise with the Navy where he enlisted and entered the
navy on December 16, 1907 in Dallas, Texas. Returned to Dallas to preside
over the aviation cadet examining board and chief public relations
officer for the Dallas Army recruiting office as a Lieutenant Colonel
having been promoted to that rank on October 10, 1931.
